Privacy Policy

This website collects and uses personal information for the following reasons:

Site visitation tracking

Like most websites, this site uses Google Analytics (GA) to track user interaction. I use this data to determine the number of people using my site and to see their journey through the website. GA records data such as your geographical location, device, internet browser and operating system, and your computer’s IP address. However, none of this information personally identifies you to me. GA makes use of cookies, details of which can be found on Google’s developer guides. Disabling cookies on your internet browser will stop GA from tracking any part of your visit to pages on this website.

Email links

Should you choose to contact me using the email link, none of the data that you supply will be stored by this website or processed by any of the third party data processors. My SMTP servers are protected by SSL, meaning that the email content is encrypted. However, not all mail servers are secured in such a way. Therefore, I suggest that you always consider email as an insecure medium and not include personal, confidential or otherwise sensitive information within an email.

Email newsletter

If you choose to join the email newsletter, the email address that you submit is currently stored in an identifiable fashion; a limitation of the content management system (WordPress) that this website is built on (check their GDPA-compliant Privacy policy). Your email address will remain within WP database for as long as I continue to use their services or until you specifically request removal from the list. You can do this by unsubscribing or by requesting removal via email. While your email address remains within the WP database, you will receive newsletter-style emails from me whenever I post a new blog entry.

Third Party Data Processors

I use 2 third parties to process personal data. These third parties have been carefully chosen, are based in the USA and are EU-U.S Privacy Shield compliant:

Changes to Privacy Policy

This privacy policy may change from time to time inline with legislation or industry developments. I will not explicitly inform subscribers of these changes. Instead, I recommend that you check this page occasionally for any policy changes.
